Welcome to my personal website! I'm Henry Allen, a current PhD student in the College of Communication & Information Sciences at the University of Alabama.
My research focuses on the communication of science and risk. I tend to draw from social-psychological theories like Social Identity Theory and Self-Categorization Theory to understand the interplay of communication between experts, institutions, and varied public audiences. Currently, I am involved in projects that focus on risk communication before, during, and after severe weather events.
As part of my dissertation, I am planning to explore the dynamics of communicating science and risk in economic contexts.
Outside of academic interests, I'm an avid outdoors-person and enjoy taking my dog for adventurous walks.
